Retired HCPCS Codes Cause Rejections

On January 1st of each year, HCPCS codes are retired and replacement codes are implemented on a national level. Medi-Cal retires the codes in October of that same year. California Health & Wellness follows the Medi-Cal timeline in accordance with our contract with providers.

Between January 1 and March 7, 2016, California Health & Wellness erroneously rejected claims that used retired HCPCS codes. The issue has been resolved.

Please resubmit any claims that were rejected because of this issue using 2015 HCPCS codes. The retired codes are listed below:
